Abbess Nino Vachnadze

Abbess Nino Vachnadze
Abbess Nino (in the world Elene Vachnadze) was tonsured a nun at Bodbe Monastery and appointed as its superior in 1917. In 1924, the Bolsheviks closed the convnet, and the last abbess, Nino, was expelled. She subsequently lived in Tbilisi, near the Anchiskhati Church, where she remained until her repose in 1946. In 1964, according to her will, her relics were transferred to Bodbe Convent. Her grave is located by the northern entrance of the Church of Saint George at Bodbe. In 2006, the tomb was renewed and adorned with marble.
