Icon of the Iveron Holy Mother of God

Icon of the Iveron Holy Mother of God
One of the monastery's sacred items is the wonderworking Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. During the communist era, when the monastery was converted into a hospital, the icon was used as a table in the X-ray room. Once, a faithless person tried to desecrate this icon and slashed its face with a knife, for which he was severely punished and, though completely healthy, died suddenly. The icon still bears the marks of the knife slashes. Later, the Mother of God appeared to a female doctor and ordered her to return the icon to its proper place.
